The blue and white watercolors are inspired by the scenes depicted on Chinese export ware. They are made in the same spirit as those works, created by European artists who were inspired by and reacted to the strange lands, costumes and architecture they saw depicted on export porcelain, creating artwork called ''Chinoiserie''. Similar to these European pieces, my watercolors do not pretend and could never be mistaken for Chinese artwork, but could not exist without its inspiration.
My watercolors demonstrate my deep interest in texture, density of form, pattern, cultural referencing and complex surface rhythms.
